HEDDIE AWARDS GIVEN AT THE FROLIC At
the spring Frolic, Paul Murphy organized a ceremony of awards for
unsung backstage heroes (called Heddie Awards to honor the late, great
Heddie Kent) which were given to four Players: Allen Bantly,
for building amazing and complex sets for all our shows, with all
sorts of moving parts and levels, and with the vision that parts might
be usable for sets later in the season; Paul Gill, the maestro of sound for the auditorium of 51 Walden, member of the Players board and the FOPAC board; John Murtagh, for the flawless and wide-ranging stage management of The Drowsy Chaperone,
with its non-stop breakneck musical comedy, cast of 17, orchestra of
13, a rolling staircase, sliding pedestals, flying airplane and dancing
monkeys; and Tracy Wall, who oversaw every production
as VP of Productions, coordinated the Players presence at Christmas
Lighting of the Tree Parade and the Patriots Day Parade, and who
designed and guided construction of all the costumes for the the
Players' lavish production of Little Women.
  THE FROLIC WAS FROLICKY
The 2012 Spring Frolic was fun for all. Jay Newlon, our beloved president, kicked things off with a man-in-chair parody from The Drowsy Chaperone
that looked back on the whole season. The supper was delicious, thanks
to the culinary skills of many member pot-luck chefs. The strawberry
shortcake was superb, as always. Cheryl Carter-Miller organized the
karaoke, which encouraged the gang to sing many songs. A jolly time was
had by all.
